SHCA are the DirectHealth consortium's Architect and Design Team Leader for this 65,000 sq m (700,000 sq ft) new acute care hospital located on a green field site one mile from the city centre of Enniskillen.
This new facility includes an accident and emergency unit, diagnostic and treatment services, critical care wards and outpatient services. An identifiable Women's Centre and Children's Centre are integrated into the facility.
A series of inter-linked 'v' shaped 24 bed ward units are organised to face unspoiled open countryside. All 300 beds are accommodated in single rooms.
All patient, staff and public areas are provided with external views and daylight. Overall the hospital is organised as a series of pavilions linked by glass connectors. The interior design has been fully integrated with artwork, landscape and signage to support wayfinding for patient and visitors.
