SHCA were invited by ACTEEUM Group to develop a 105,000 sq m (1,130,220 sq ft) mixed use concept design for a major retail centre located on a prominent hill top location in Goztepe district on the Anatolian side of Istanbul.
The site for the new retail complex, is strategically located in a prime elevated position adjacent to one of Istanbul's main arterial roads, and will be linked to a new metro station and bus terminus. The development sits in the centre of the Anatolian Istanbul and consequently will become the major retail destination of choice for a potential 14 million visitors per year.
The new centre will incorporate a large number of high quality, brand leading Turkish and International retailers, plus superior leisure facilities including a multi complex cinema, a food court and restaurants. The development will also include a grade A office tower and high quality residential apartments.
The central atrium, linking all levels of the building, will provide an oasis for shoppers that will feature a cascading water feature flowing into a lagoon with fountains and generous planting. Above, an arrangement of striking circular glazed canopies, varying in height, will assist in maintaining a temperate environment.
