Inspired by a complex site, design a compelling new residential property blending downtown style with the utmost attention to detail.
SHCA's design for the Campiello Collection was inspired by both the challenges of a complex site and the cultural and historic context of the Chelsea neighborhood. The luxury condominium building features 51 residences in two new 12-story towers at 151 West 17th Street.

The L-shaped lot and zoning requirements determined the shape of the project: two towers recalling the grand residential buildings along Central Park West. Floor-to-ceiling windows establish a binary window/wall relationship unusual in New York apartment houses. The resulting columns of glass or brick evoke the bay structure of the neighboring loft buildings.

Apartments are intended to look and feel loft-like. The downtown aesthetic contrasts with the rich materials palette. Echoing the neighborhood's historic industrial buildings, designers celebrated instead of concealing many of the building's structural components.
