Draft a detailed 'roadmap' for future capital development of a significant urban college while building bridges to the community.
City University of New York (CUNY) Department of Design, Construction and Management engaged SHCA to create a campus master plan for City College that is an appropriate metaphor for the multi-faceted mission of the college. With extensive new construction underway on the Harlem campus, the charge is to identify uses for those existing buildings that will either be vacated or are currently underused.
In addition to producing a roadmap for the next ten years of capital development on campus, SHCA's role is to facilitate consensus-based dialogue between City College, CUNY and the larger Harlem community.
SHCA is working with all constituents to define the physical changes necessary to enhance the mission and role of the college. The master plan will help City College build on a legacy of quality and creativity while supporting the administration as it charts a course balancing physical change with its academic and social mission and fiscal parameters.
