A new home for the City of London Academy is currently being constructed in a series of phases to replace or renew existing tired building stock whilst allowing the school to continue functioning throughout.
The Academy will provide a visually inclusive light and airy environment, with low life cycle costs.

Phase 3 of this 8,060 sq m (86,760 sq ft) Academy for the DCSF, sponsored by the City of London Corporation, is now out to tender. The first phase was completed in time for the start of the 2008/9 school year and the second phase is now under construction, rising between its 19th and 20th century predecessors. The final phase is designed as an SEN unit for children with cerebral palsy, who will have their own specialised facilities in the recycled original Victorian building updated to current standards, but they will be fully integrated into the life of the larger Academy.

The design is highly sustainable. With a carbon footprint (at 21.9 kgCO2/m2/year) it is much lower than current regulatory requirements, and incorporates a biomass boiler. This will be the first Academy to meet the London Mayor's 20% renewable target.
