GAC Real Estate Investment commissioned SHCA to prepare a pre-master plan study for a new residential neighborhood in Esenyurt, Istanbul. The proposed development is situated in Bahcesehir; a new undeveloped residential district approximately 30 km west of historic Istanbul.
Esenyurt will include: 4,000 low-to-high density residential units, approximately 80,000 sq m (860,000 sq ft) of retail, parks, school, mosque, hospital and community center.
SHCA's design satisfies several goals: establishing a distinctive architectural style for the built environment; creating a specific typology for the residential units; and offering a variety of retail and recreational amenities for future residents.
Wide curvilinear civic spaces that follow the natural contour lines of the site anchoring the design. These lead to the community center, the heart of the master plan. The broad strokes enable a grand, unifying scale for the entire project while permitting pedestrian access throughout the new neighborhood. Paths link each of the residential areas to the main parks, community center and other civic areas.
