SHCA designed this new 300-room, 4-star resort hotel complex located on Al Aqah beach in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. The east-facing site offers views of the Gulf of Oman and forms part of a new Riviera hotel and luxury residential development that runs along the coast. All facilities radiate out from an expansive, raised oval pool. The curvilinear hotel is positioned at the western edge of the site, with 'trays' of terraced rooms forming a backdrop to the craggy mountainous landscape beyond. The hotel appears to 'cradle' the pool and its undulating waterside pavilions in outstretched arms.
Communal facilities are located beneath the pool, including a large parking garage and a pleasant shaded walkway. Shared-occupancy bungalows are gathered in groups within a shaded garden, creating protected courtyard areas, while private suites appear integrated with the dunes.
The development includes restaurants, a business center and luxury spa.
