The refurbishment of the Student Union Building is one of a number of commissions for SHCA under the Imperial College London Framework of preferred consultants.
SHCA is included on the Imperial College London Framework of preferred consultants. We were appointed in January 2005 to prepare a strategic development masterplan for the Student Union Building on the northern Edge of the Central London Campus.
The project is implemented on a phased basis dictated by the allocation of funding. The scope of works of each building phase is determined by a review of the operational priorities with the most effective use of funds available for each building phase to achieve best value for the client and user group.
Building Phase One entailed the comprehensive refurbishment of the central stair core, DDA implementation and improvements to the union bar and a new glass lift with feature lighting. Phase Two brief consists of providing new Student Activity for the Unions' club and society facilities within the existing building fabric with the insertion of a new mezzanine floor connecting the east and west wing.
