Create a new Mammography Services suite that focuses on patient privacy and comfort while ensuring an efficient work environment for medical staff.
SHCA designed the new Breast Imaging Center as an extension to the existing Diagnostic Imaging Center at NS - LIJ's Center for Advanced Medicine. The two services share an entrance, reception area and waiting room. The new Breast Imaging Center consists of three Ultrasound rooms, five Mammography Rooms, one Biopsy Room, one Recovery Room, and one Bone Density Room.
The plan separates patient and staff traffic flow. Procedure rooms are efficiently organized around a core area dedicated to patient changing and two gowned waiting areas. Doctor's offices and staff facilities are located at the north and south ends of the space, away from the main patient areas.
A greeter station and sub-waiting area for the Breast Imaging Center are located just inside the Breast Imaging suite, which is designed with a warm yet professional ambiance.
All new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were incorporated into the new suite.
