SHCA organized this outpatient center around both a progression of distinct zones, from front to back based on patient flow, and a modular 'pod' arrangement of the clinical spaces within these zones.
Registration and waiting areas are in the front of the facility, followed by the general exam / treatment zone, and finally, the procedure zone. Support services are placed in from the rear, behind the procedure zone, limiting patient exposure. The 'pods' each contain four exam rooms with a nurse/physician assistant station and patient toilet. This design fosters greater patient convenience, privacy and staff accessibility.
The facility contains procedure rooms for cystoscopy and urodynamics, ultrasound rooms, 16 exam rooms and offices for faculty and residents.
The waiting area, while visually connected to the registration area, is separated by distance and glass for auditory privacy. The crisp, sophisticated atmosphere reflects the center's staff of internationally renowned medical experts. Skylights in the glass-walled corridor cast natural light onto the seating areas and a sculptural feature wall at the waiting area provides a positive distraction.
